Phyllis Josephine (Medlock) McDonald was born on August 11, 1938, in Darian, Missouri to Roscoe and Violet (Schafer) Medlock and passed away July 22, 2020, in Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-one years. Phyllis grew up and attended school in Darian, Missouri. On November 14, 1953, Phyllis was united in marriage to the love of her life, Max McDonald. Together they shared over sixty-six years of marriage and memories and were blessed with three children: Leon, Tony, and Tracey. Phyllis was a hard worker; she was employed with Wright Point Pen Company for many years as a printer. Since her retirement, Phyllis enjoyed her hobby of beekeeping. She liked spending time outdoors in her garden, fishing, and hunting. Phyllis treasured time spent with her family and friends, but she especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Phyllis was a woman of faith; she accepted Christ in 1960 and baptized at Cedar Grove. She was a devoted member of Jadwin Church of Christ where she faithfully served the Lord for over thirty years. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband Max McDonald of the home; sons: Leon McDonald and wife Jean Ann of Salem, MO, Tony McDonald and wife Dee of Pacific, MO, and Tracey McDonald of Valley Park, MO; siblings: Bob Medlock and wife Linda of Eldon, MO, Dena Adams of Valley Park, MO, and Pat Jacobs of Sugarland, TX; sister-in-law: Lois Medlock of Davisville, MO; grandchildren: Ryan McDonald and wife Spring, Casey McDonald-Schneider and husband Joe, and Katie McDonald and fiancé Matt Strothkamp; great-granddaughter: Paisley McDonald; extended family and friends. Preceding her in death, parents: Roscoe and Violet Medlock and brother: Rance Medlock. Phyllis was one of a kind, with a big heart full of love. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness. Phyllis will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services for Phyllis Josephine (Medlock) McDonald were held Monday, July 27, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Evangelist LA Stauffer officiating. Tom Fleener read passage John 14:1-6. Special Memories were shared by granddaughter Katie McDonald and Casey McDonald-Schneider sharing a poem. Special Music was provided by Ryan McDonald leading “I’ll Fly Away”, “Whosoever Meaneth Me”, “Where The Roses Never Fade”, and “I’ve Heard Of A Land”. Serving as Pallbearers were Ryan McDonald, Katie McDonald, Mike Medlock, Matt Strothkamp, Casey McDonald-Schneider, and Joe Schneider. Burial was in the Jadwin Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
