Ples Junior Hedrick

June 6, 1944 - June 13, 2021

Ples Junior Hedrick was born on June 6, 1944 to Earl and Irene (Baker) Hedrick in Pekin, Illinois. Ples met the love of his life, Glinda Luerena Johnson, in St. Louis while she was working at the Woolworth Store. On August 17, 1964 they were united in marriage and together shared fifty-six years of memories. Ples and Glinda were blessed with two children: Curtis and Gena. He was a devoted husband and dedicated father to his children. Ples worked hard to provide for his family, he was employed most of his life with the Chrysler Car Plant. He retired after many years. An avid outdoorsman, Ples enjoyed fishing and hunting. While in Florida, he even gator hunted. He loved his family most of all and cherished the memories made together, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of his fondest memories include teaching his grandchildren to walk rewarding them with M&M’s. Ples passed away on June 13, 2021 at his home in Salem, Missouri surrounded by his loving family at the age of seventy-seven years. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife Glinda Hedrick of the home; son: Curtis Hedrick and wife Thu of Florida; daughter: Gena Harwell and husband Hugh of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Kara Wofford and husband Nathan of Salem, MO and Emily Hunter and husband Brandon of Salem, MO; great-grandchildren: Faith Hunter and Rowen Wofford; brothers: Warner Hedrick and wife Jean of Indiana and Clifford Hedrick and wife Joan of Missouri; sister: Nellie Hedrick of Texas; extended family and friends. Preceding him in death, infant great-granddaughter: Lily Hunter; parents: Earl and Irene Hedrick; siblings: Ruth Hedrick, Fran Yelverton, Ruby Smith, Nora Hedrick, Kenny Hedrick, and Thelma Shaw. Ples was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be forever missed by all. Memorial Services for Ples Junior Hedrick were held Thusrday, June 17, 2021 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Song selections played were "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art". Burial was in the Boss Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
