Retha Jean (Lowe) Counts

June 28, 1942 - April 23, 2020

Retha Jean (Lowe) Tunis-Counts was born on June 28, 1942, in Oliver Springs, Tennessee to Oscar and Willa May (Head) Lowe and passed away on April 23, 2020, in Walnut Grove, Missouri at the age of seventy-seven years. Retha grew up and attended school in Leslie, Missouri. She was the proud mother of five children: Mike, Sarah, Tammy, Etta, and Maggie. On November 21, 2010, Retha was united in marriage to Richard Lee Tunis and together shared nine years of wonderful memories. Retha became a Christian in 1984 at the age of forty-two; she loved the Lord and worked hard sharing the gospel message. While living in Colorado, Retha shared the gospel on an internet program, she was blessed to reach many souls and lead them to Christ. Retha liked to sing, especially bluegrass and gospel music. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing and roller skating. Retha cherished her life in Colorado and loved her “snowbird” life in Arizona. She treasured the time spent with her friends and adored her time spent with family; especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Retha is survived by her husband: Richard “Rich” Tunis of Casa Grande, AZ; children: Mike Tredway and wife Holly of Walnut Grove, MO, Sarah Benton and husband Richard of Rolla, MO, Etta Garth and husband Tony of North Carolina, Tammy Shrum and husband Shawn of Rolla, MO; brothers: Reubon Lowe and wife Margie of Gerald, MO, and Joe Lowe and wife Cathy of Dalton, GA; sister: Gayel Lowe of Jefferson City, MO; many grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; extended family and friends. Retha was preceded in death by her parents: Oscar and Willa May Lowe; daughter: Maggie Sue Asbridge; grandson: Zachary Tredway; sister: Joyce Garrison; brothers: Bob, Charlie, John, and Hayes Lowe. Retha will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Graveside Services for Retha Jean (Lowe) Counts were held Wednesday, April 29, 2020 in the Westfork-Sutterfield Cemetery with Bro. Dennis Vickers officiating. Song selections played were “Heavens Now My Home”, “I Want Us To Be Together In Heaven”, and “Because He Lives”. Serving as Pallbearers were Justin Lowe, Austin Tredway, and David Garrison.
