Robert Donald Wells

Robert Donald Wells was born on May 4, 1947 in Salem, Missouri to Lloyd and Irene (Roberts) Wells and passed away on January 16, 2020 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of seventy-two years. Robert grew up in Salem and graduated from Salem High School. He joined the United States Navy at a young age and served his country honorably and faithfully earning many decorations, medals, ribbons, and awards. While in the Navy, he was united in marriage on March 25, 1967 to Ernestine Laverne Curry in Illinois and were blessed with forty-eight years of marriage before her passing on December 15, 2015. Robert and Ernestine were blessed with one son, Dale. Robert worked hard to provide for his family, throughout most of his working life Robert was employed with Ralston Purina as a Laborer. He was a friendly, outgoing man who was a frequent visitor of the Golden Corral, they were known as his second family. Robert was a great man of faith and an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. Most important to him was his family, he love spending time with his son and was proud of his accomplishments. Robert is survived by his loving son: Dale Wells of St. Louis, MO; one brother-in-law: James Curry of Doolittle, MO; two sisters-in-law: Leota Crain of St. Louis, MO and Oleta Donner of Oak Grove, MO; second family of the Golden Corral restaurant off of Lindbergh; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Preceding him in death were, his wife: Ernestine Wells; parents: Lloyd and Irene Wells; and brother: Roger Wells. Robert will be lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for Robert Donald Wells were held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain”. Serving as Pallbearers were Ken Crain, Clifton McDonald, Eddie Wilson, Dave Roberts, Keith Crain, and Keith Wilson. Burial with Military Honors was in the North Lawn Cemetery. Military Honors was provided by the United States Navy and American Legion Post 99. All arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
