Shirley Joan Morton

January 18, 1937 - October 6, 2019

Shirley Joan (Land) Morton was born on January 18, 1937, in Turtle, Missouri to Cletus and Irene (Mowery) Land and passed away October 6, 2019, in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of eighty-two years. Shirley grew up in Turtle, Missouri and graduated from Bunker High School. In her younger years, she accepted Christ and attended Liberty Baptist Church. On October 2, 1955 Shirley married the love of her life, Charles Elbert Morton in Salem, Missouri and together they shared sixty-four wonderful years of marriage. Shirley started her working years ironing at Clintons Cleaners. After furthering her education, she became the bookkeeper for several businesses to include: Sears, Craig's and State Farm. Shirley was beautiful inside and out and was known for her loving smile and beautiful personality. She enjoyed life and had a great love for shopping for anything and everything. Shirley enjoyed working in her flower beds, spending time with her beloved puppies and camping. She was the true definition of a friend. Her personality made her a joy to be around and she was loved by everyone who met her. Shirley was devoted to her husband, family and friends. Preceding her in death, were her parents: Cletus and Irene Land, father-in-law: Jerry Morton, mother-in-law: Zelma Morton, brother-in-laws: Johnny Crain and Dennis Quick, sister-in-laws: Geraldine Crain and Dee Morton. Shirley is survived by her loving husband: Charles Morton of Salem, MO; two sister-in- laws: Betty June and husband Dave of California and Mary Ellen Quick of Arizona; two brother-in-laws: Jack Morton and wife Jenny of Oregon and Fred Morton and his little puppy dog "Charlie" of Nevada; two cousins: Mary Happel of Salem, MO and Cleo Sturdivant of Florida; several nieces, nephews; extended family, neighbors and friends. Shirley was loved by everyone who met her and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
