Steven Wade Pines Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Steven Wade Pines was born on March 7, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Howard and Bobbie (nee Ball) Pines and passed away on July 20, 2022, in Phoenix, Arizona, at age seventy-nine. Steven grew up in Salem, Missouri, and attended Salem High School, graduating in 1961. He attended college briefly, and he loved learning throughout his life. For many years, Steven worked as the bookkeeper at Pines Chevrolet Company. In addition, Steven was active in the Salem United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School. He also volunteered with the local theater company and wrote a movie column for the Salem newspaper. In the 1980s, Steven and his parents relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where Steven spent his remaining years. Steven was born with cerebral palsy and endured many challenges. However, he had a strong faith in God which allowed him to live life with a smile and a positive attitude. His greatest enjoyments were live theater, music, movies, and books – all of which provided a path for many adventures. Steven is survived by his cousins: Sara Kathryn Pines of Salem, MO, Kathryn Lynn Van Etten and husband, Steve Holloway, of Phoenix, AZ; his aunt, Sue Brown of Springfield, MO; his cousins, Rev. David Massey-Brown of Kirksville, MO, Brenda Brown and Karen Steinke of Springfield, MO, and Stan Kintigh of Glen Carbon, IL as well as extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Bobbie Pines. Steven was dearly loved, and he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. Graveside Services for Steven Wade Pines were held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at the Cedar Grove Cemetery with Pastor Barry Baugh officiating. Additional speakers were Kathy Van Etten and Ed Carmack. Special Music was provided by John Casey. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Steven Pines to the Salem United Methodist Church and left at Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Cards will be available.
