Virginia Arlene Martin

Virginia Arlene Martin was born on July 11, 1953 in Edina, Missouri to John and Rozella (Medley) Martin and departed this life on August 21, 2021 surrounded by her loving family at home in Salem, Missouri at the age of sixty-eight years. Arlene was united in marriage to Ralph Harrison in January 1971 and together shared twenty-three years of memories. Arlene and Ralph were blessed with three children: John, Amanda, and Jeremy. Arlene was dedicated to her family and took great pride in raising her children. She later met her sweetheart, David Chrisco Sr. and treasured fifteen wonderful years by each other’s side until his passing on October 27, 2020. Compassionate and loving in nature, Arlene was gifted with the role of being a natural-born caregiver. She was always looking for ways to help and care for everyone in need. Arlene was a certified nurse assistant at Salem Memorial District Hospital for several years and a secretary with Complete Care until her retirement. Arlene loved finding a good bargain and enjoyed spending time with friends and family at yard sales. She looked forward to eating breakfast at the Country Corner Café with her best friend, Melba. Arlene was happiest when she was surrounded by her family, always making family gatherings special and memorable. Her fur baby Oreo, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Arlene cherished the memories they made together, and she especially treasured attending church with them at New Home Baptist. Arlene leaves behind to cherish her memories, loving children: John Harrison and wife Angie of Salem, MO, Amanda Blaylock and husband Jerry of Summersville, MO, and Jeremy Harrison and wife Melanie of Salem, MO; step-son: Dave Chrisco Jr. and wife Mendy of Festus, MO; sisters: Pam Griffith of Salem, MO and Shirley Donovan and husband Dale of Salem, MO; grandchildren: J.T. Harrison and wife Tasha of Salem, MO, Cody Harrison and wife Joanne of Salem, MO, Ryan Blaylock and wife Ashlynn of Nixa, MO, Clarissa Inman and husband Cole of Rolla, MO, Marissa Blaylock and fiancé Charlie of Eminence, MO, Daylen Harrison and fiancé Chloe of Salem, MO, and Shaylee Ash and husband Jodan of Salem, MO; great-grandchildren: Rio, August, Cambrie, Carter, Preslee, Addison, Tuff, and baby Ash on the way; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death, sweetheart of fifteen years: David Chrisco Sr.; parents: John and Rozella Martin; brothers: Delbert and Elmer Martin; sister: Mildred Walker; brothers-in-law: Melvin Griffith and James Walker; and granddaughter: Kristena Harrison. Arlene will be remembered for her beautiful smile, kind heart, strong will, and determination. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication for her family and friends. Arlene was truly an inspiration and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Virginia Arlene Martin were held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Jerry Blaylock and Pastor Charlie Younger officiating. Song selections played were "Winner Either Way", "Send Your Best Angel", and "Scars In Heaven". Serving as Pallbearers were Daylen Harrison, Cody Harrison, J.T. Harrison, Ryan Blaylock, Cole Inman, Charlie Blake, and Jodan Ash. Honorary Pallbearers were Tuff Harrison, Rio Blaylock, August Mizell, Addison Harrison, Cambrie Inman, Preslee Blake, and Baby Ash. Burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
