Wilbur Charles Washausen

December 16, 1949 - November 6, 2021

Wilbur Charles Washausen was born December 16, 1949 in Redbud, Illinois to Wilbur Eugene and Bernice Charlotte Marie (Roever) Washausen. He grew up and attended school in Valmeyer, Illinois and moved to Salem in 1974, making Salem his home. Wilbur was united in marriage to the love of his life, Victoria “Vickie” Elaine Parker November 26, 1981 in Reynolds, Missouri and together they shared forty years of marriage. Wilbur and Vickie were blessed with two sons: Gary and Adam. Wilbur loved his family, and nothing brought him greater joy than the time he spent with them. He was a devoted husband and wonderful father. Wilbur taught his family daily the importance of kindness and showed by example how to be a hard worker. Wilbur worked hard all his life to provide a home for his family. He started his working career in St. Louis as an electrician before starting his career in the mines as an instrumentation technician. Wilbur retired from Doe Run after many dedicated years. Wilbur was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed everything about nature, including hunting and fishing. He liked spending time in the Mark Twain National Forest deer and turkey hunting and at the lake fishing with his sons. Wilbur was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and valued attending Sunday worship services with his wife. Wilbur departed this life on November 6, 2021 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of seventy-one years. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife Vickie Washausen of the home; sons: Gary Washausen of St. Louis, MO and Adam Washausen of Eldon, MO; brother: Kenneth Washausen of Salem, MO; nephews: Glen Washausen and wife Brenda of Oklahoma and Ken John Washausen and wife Julia of Salem, MO; great-nephews: Michael, Brenton, KJ, and Tyler Washausen; great-great-nephew: Kayden Washausen; extended family and dear friends. Preceding him in death, parents: Wilbur and Bernice Washauen and sister-in-law: Renne Washausen. Wilbur was known for his sweet smile, generous heart, loving nature, kindness and caring for others. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
