Barbara Ann (Asher) Bays

Barbara Ann (Asher) Bays was born February 2, 1949, in Boss, Missouri, to Edward James and Pearl (Callahan) Asher. She grew up in Boss and was the proud mother of two sons: Leon and Leroy. Barbara had a heart of gold and loved to help others. Throughout her working career, she was a Certified Nurse Assistant at several nursing homes, to include Belleview Valley Nursing Home and Seville Care Center. She enjoyed her work and cared for the residents. Barbara always kept herself busy. She liked to paint and decorate in and around her home. She was blessed to have Shyanne and Nicholas in her life, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara loved to spend time making memories with her family. Barbara departed this life December 7, 2023, at the age of seventy-four years. Those left behind to treasure her memory include two sons: Leon Bays and wife Tana of Steelville, MO and Leroy Bays of Viburnum, MO; siblings: John Asher and wife Sue of Boss, MO, Jean Hedgcoth of Middlebrook, MO, Betty Vance and husband Grover of Pilot Knob, MO, Mary Key and husband Rick of Branson, MO, and Becky Mowery of Salem, MO; brother-in-law: “J.P.” Jerry Paintner of Viburnum, MO; granddaughter: Brooklyn Pearrow and husband Maverick; great-grandchildren: Levi and Grayson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, parents: Edward and Pearl Asher; sisters: Debbie Paintner, Geneva Hedrick, Shirley Jones, and Donna Sue Brooks; brothers: Darrell, Clint and Jim Asher; sisters-in-law: Gertrude, Marie, and Marlene Asher; and brothers-in-law: Troy Hedrick, Jerry Brooks, and Leon Mowery. Barbara loved to help those around her and always spoke well of others. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Barbara will be deeply missed by those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Barbara Ann (Asher) Bays were held Monday, December 11, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Bradley Asher and Pastor Adam Asher officiating. Special Music was provided by April Greer, Rich Key, and Raelyn Ware singing “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Serving as Pallbearers were Austin Sumpter, Andrew Asher, Rich Key, Thomas Mowery, Denver Asher, and Scott Asher. Burial was in the Boss Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Barbara Bays to Wilson Mortuary to help with final expenses. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
