Betty June (Spencer) Caywood

Betty June (Spencer) Caywood was born on July 24, 1935, near Ashley Creek in Montauk, Missouri, to Frank Wilbur and Gladys (Davis) Spencer. She grew up in Salem, Missouri and in 1953 graduated from Salem High School. Betty was united in marriage to Arlen “A.J.” Caywood on December 31, 1974, at the Salem First Baptist Church. Betty and A.J. shared twenty-one years of marriage and memories together before his passing on January 17, 1996. Betty was blessed with one son: Randy. Betty was a dedicated homemaker, faithful wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and loving great-grandmother. Some of her favorite moments were spending time caring for her grandchildren when they were younger. She was an excellent cook and loved cooking for family gatherings. Betty enjoyed gardening with A.J., canning their bounty, and sharing it with others. Betty was a lifetime member of Salem First Baptist Church where she was known as B.J. She enjoyed working in the nursery and serving on the kitchen committee. She loved gathering with other widows and supporting them. She also liked meeting up with the ladies and crafting together. B.J. was a social butterfly who loved shopping and dining out with friends. Betty entered eternal rest August 9, 2023, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her loving son: Randy Heck and wife Debbie of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Brandon Heck and wife Janelle and Ashlee Iseminger and husband Jason; great-grandchildren: Kendall, Piper, and Lincoln; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, loving husband: A.J. Caywood; parents: Frank and Gladys Spencer; and brothers: Kenneth and Wayne Spencer. Betty was one of a kind with a beautiful contagious smile that lit up the room. She was a true friend, with a heart of gold. She truly was a joy to be around and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Betty June (Spencer) Caywood were held Saturday, August 12, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Russ Davidson officiating. Song selections played were “If You Could See Me Now”, “A Mother’s Love”, and “There Is A Place”. Serving as Pallbearers were her loving Salem First Baptist Church Deacons. Burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
