Billie Lee Shults

Billie Lee Shults was born December 2, 1937, in Salem, Missouri, to Alva and Grace (Mauzy) Shults. He was promoted to his eternal home on January 8, 2025, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years. Billie grew up in Dent County, Missouri, and met the love of his life, Dorlene Gray, the summer of 1955 at Montauk State Park. They were united in marriage on November 16, 1956, and to this union blessed with three children: Shirley, Steve, and Scott. Billie started his working career cutting cord wood. He later worked for Great Central Lumber Company and oversaw the concrete business. Billie started his career in the Mines with AMAX and retired from Doe Run after many years of dedication. A lifelong farmer, Billie dedicated most of his life to his land, tending to his farm and registered Angus Cattle with unwavering commitment. He had a passion for the outdoors, he was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. Billie has many fond memories of taking his grandchildren to the pond and catching catfish. Above all, his wife and family were the most important thing to Billie. He treasured his grandchildren and adored his great-grandchildren. He deeply cherished the moments spent with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever. His faith was evident in every aspect of his life. Over the last fifty years, Billie has a been faithful member of Corinth Baptist Church. He had previously attended Dry Fork Baptist Church and has taught several Sunday School Classes. Sharing his faith with others brought him great joy. Billie is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years: Dorlene Shults of Salem, MO; daughter: Shirley Hofstetter and husband Michael of St. James, MO; sons: Steve Shults of Salem, MO, and Scott Shults and wife Tammy of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Courtney Huntley and husband Brett, Kristin Carson and husband Aaron, Megan Shults, Brooke Miller and husband Jeff, and Jordan Shults and wife Shay; great-grandchildren: Madison, Makayla, Tripp, and baby Peyton on the way; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his parents: Alva and Grace (Mauzy) Shults; sister: Ardean Baker; and daughter-in-law: Patty Shults. Billie was kind, compassionate, and affectionately enjoyed teasing others. With a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye, he would light up the room. Making others smile was something he thoroughly enjoyed doing. He holds a special place in the hearts of many and will be deeply missed. Funeral Services for Billie Lee Shults were held Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Cartwright officiating. Scott Shults and Don Snider also shared. Special Music was “Farther Along” and “Beulah Land”. Serving as Pallbearers were Jordan Shults, Jeff Miller, Luke Lucas, Aaron Carson, Brett Huntley, and Randall Raulston. Burial was in the Dry Fork Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Billie Shults to Corinth Baptist Church and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
