Canon Lane Newton

Canon Lane Newton was born May 19, 2005 in Rolla, Missouri, to David and Ashley (Hendrix) Newton. Canon was a junior at St. James High School and worked hard to have good grades. He was involved with DECA and recently competed in Business Service Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Canon was working on starting a Chess Club with other students. Canon loved unconditionally. His family was everything to him, and he valued spending time with them. Canon loved making memories with his mom; some of their favorite activities were a mean game of chess, playing Bingo, ice cream dates, sporting events, putting together puzzles, and just snuggling in bed while he played with her hair. Canon learned the value of hard work from his dad, and he liked helping him with concrete work. They enjoyed several outdoor activities together; especially hunting deer and turkey and trout fishing. Canon would team up with his Dad to beat Mom in a fierce game of bowling. He also loved Oliver, the cat who he called his brother. Canon had a variety of hobbies that he mastered with his partner in crime, Tom. They meant the world to each other and made many special gifts together. Some special moments were spent gardening, beekeeping, candle making out of beeswax, building ziplines, mining for gold, building a treehouse, and eating at Buffalo Wild Wings. They even held a Harry Potter Movie Marathon together. Canon was devoted not only to his family, but to his friends. So devoted that he had a 827 snap-streak to one special friend. His dedication did not end there. Canon also made it his goal to become the very best version of a gentleman. He received a book "How to be a Gentleman," not once but twice, from his partner in crime and from his Aunt Kris. Canon read it nightly on Facetime to a close friend. Canon enjoyed a good game of chess, playing the PS5 with his screenname being E-EZ_Cooldog519, bowling, playing guitar, miniature golf, and floating. He loved to travel and visited Mt. Rushmore, New York City, Grand Canyon, the Bahamas, and several other destinations. Canon looked forward to helping at the Rising Haunted Attraction and was known as “Bucky.” Canon passed away February 2, 2023 at the age of seventeen years. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving parents: David and Ashley (Hendrix) Newton of St. James, MO; grandparents: Mary Wieners, Vern Hendrix and wife Patricia, Teneke Hill, and Roger Newton and wife Linda; great-grandparents: Zella Wieners, Margarite Hill, and Shirley Hahn; sweet girlfriend: Cheyanne Rush; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, his partner-in-crime: Tom Miller; great-grandparents: Darold Wieners, Fran Hendrix, Buck Hendrix, and Murl Hahn; and his cousins: Michael Newton and Samuel Hicks. Canon left this world too soon but left a lasting impact on the lives of many. He will be remembered for his faith, kindness, generosity, compassion, and contagious smile. Canon will be forever missed.
