Carol Ann (Sullivan) Hayes

Carol Ann (Sullivan) Hayes was born June 30, 1946, in Granite City, Illinois. She was one of two daughters born to James Carol and Willie Mae (Wiggins) Sullivan. Carol was always very close to her parents and had a strong bond with her sister. Carol grew up in Bunker, Missouri and graduated in 1964 from Bunker High School. While in high school she met the love of her life Clyde Leon Hayes. On February 13, 1965, Carol and Clyde were united in marriage creating many lasting memories together. They made Viburnum, Missouri, their hometown where they raised their two children, Mark and Shelley. Carol was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a true homemaker and took great pride in keeping her home immaculate. She proudly supported her children in every school accomplishment and activity. Once her children were grown, she started working at Doe Run until her retirement. Carol was loved by everyone, and her talents were endless. She was an amazing cook and used her gift not only to cook delicious family meals but also prepare funeral dinners. Carol lived a selfless and full life devoting much of her time serving. She was part of the bereavement ministry and enjoyed sending out cards. Carol also enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was a currently attending the First Baptist Church in Rolla and previously attended the First Baptist Church in Viburnum. Carol entered into eternal rest June 2, 2024, in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years. Left behind to treasure her memory are her loving husband: Clyde Hayes of Rolla, MO; son: Mark Hayes and wife Lani of Bolivar, MO; daughter: Shelley Turner and husband Aaron of California, MO; sister: Kathy Crider of Rolla, MO; granddaughters: Shelby Hayes of Kirkland, WA and Kaitlyn Turner of California, MO; extended family and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents: James and Mae Wiggins. Carol was so sweet, kind, and friendly. Her beautiful smile was contagious and brightened the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Carol Ann (Sullivan) Hayes were held Friday, June 7, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Ken Martin officiating. Special Music was provided by the Heritage Boys singing “This Is My Story” and “I’d Rather Have Jesus”. Serving as Pallbearers were her loving family and dear friends. Burial was in the Crossville Cemetery, Bunker, Missouri. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Carol Hayes to the Crossville Cemetery and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
