Carol Ruth (Francis) Miller

Carol Ruth (Francis) Miller was born July 24, 1943, to Troy and Lora Francis. She was born and raised in West Plains, Missouri. Carol graduated with the class of 1961 graduated from West Plains High School. On June 15, 1969, Carol was united in marriage to David Callahan and to this union shared four children: Pam, Ron, Bill, and Pauline. Carol and David shared thirty-two years of marriage together before his passing on May 6, 2001. She later met her sweetheart, George “Dave” David Miller, and in August 2004 they were united in marriage sharing the last nineteen years alongside each other. Carol was employed several years as a nurse’s aide in the St. Louis area, where she made many friends and enjoyed helping those around her. She then started a licensed daycare in her home and loved and cared for many children throughout the years. Carol enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved tending to her flower beds and feeding the cows with Dave. Carol was an animal lover and was especially fond of her dogs and cats. Most important to her was her family and spending time with them. She cherished her grandchildren and adored her great-grandchildren. Also important to Carol was her faith. She was a dedicated member of Fairview Church of Shannon County. Carol touched many hearts with teaching others the Word of God. She loved studying the Bible and sharing God’s truth. Carol entered eternal rest on October 26, 2023, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty years. Those left behind to treasure her memory include her loving husband of nineteen years: Dave Miller of Salem, MO; daughter: Pam Taggart of Salem, MO; sisters: Lanore Stubbs, Jenalla Schafer, and Carolyn Vollomon and husband Charles all of West Plains, MO; grandchildren: Curt Miller, Melissa Callahan, Gabby Hendrickson, and Logan Hendrickson; great-grandchildren: Hannah, Courtney, Emily, Makynna, Nick, Keegan, Enola, Jordan, Jude, Maddlyne, and Kenzie; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, husband: David Callahan; son: Ron; parents: Troy and Lora Francis; and siblings: Wendell and Janet. Her lifetime of service and love for others will never be forgotten. Carol will be forever missed by those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Carol Ruth (Francis) Miller were held Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Wendell Light officiating. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace”, “I’ll Fly Away”, “Traveling the Highway Home”, and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Serving as Pallbearers were Curt Miller, J.J. Norris, Nick Callahan, and Brent Hayes. Honorary Pallbearer was Keegan. Burial was in the Polk Memorial Cemetery, Reynolds County, Missouri.
