David "Doug" Douglas Snider

David Douglas Snider was born September 7, 1942, in Dent County, Missouri. He was one of seven children born to Floyd and Thelma Snider. Doug grew up in Dent County and graduated from Salem High School. While in high school he enjoyed competitive boxing. Doug met the love of his life, Toni Denise Rictor, at the Rictor family bakery. After four years of dating, they were united in marriage on January 21, 1989, at the home of Virgil Parker. Together they created a family legacy filled with love and dedication. Doug and Toni were blessed with one daughter, Chrissy, and two granddaughters: Jaden and Madison. After high school, Doug furthered his education in Rolla and obtained his carpentry degree. He was a talented carpenter with the union for many years. He then started working with F. Daniels until his retirement. His true passion was farming, which he shared with his family. He loved taking his grandchildren on adventures walking to the creeks, riding the tractor, and four-wheeler rides counting cows. Doug enjoyed tending to cattle and showing horses. He was especially fond of fast gated horses and fox trotters. An avid outdoorsman, Doug loved all wildlife and liked watching nature along with his wife Toni. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, and later just feeding and watching them graze. Most important to him was spending time making memories with his family. He was a man of faith and attended Salem Christian Church when he was able. Doug and Toni also enjoyed several years attending Bethel Baptist Church. Doug entered into eternal rest December 22, 2024, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife: Toni Snider of Salem, MO; daughter: Chrissy Flores and husband J.C. of Salem, MO; granddaughters: Jaden Flores and fiancé Elijah of Rolla, MO and Madison Flores of Salem, MO; brother: Dennis Snider of Alabama; children: Vicky Stroburg and husband Don and Scott Snider and wife Teresa; three grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his parents: Floyd and Thelma Snider; and siblings: Ferrell Snider, Darrell Snider, Mary Kreston, Barbara Arnett, and Betty Glen. Doug was a kind and compassionate man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand, often putting the needs of others before his own. A true people person, Doug found joy in socializing and sharing good times with others. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, turning strangers into friends with his warm and engaging nature. His kindness and lively spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Funeral Services for David Douglas Snider were held Friday, December 27, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Tim Hill officiating. Song selections played were “Even Though I’m Leaving”, “Remember Him That Way”, “Cross My Heart”, and “One Sweet Day”. Serving as Pallbearers were J.C. Flores, Elijah Newman, L.D. Rictor, J.R. Rictor, Cody Rictor, and Brandon Snider. Honorary Pallbearer was Allan Rictor. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
