David Carl Watson

David Carl Watson was born June 15, 1964, in Rolla, Missouri. He was one of four children born to Calvin Vernell and Dormilee Fay (Midyett) Watson. He grew up in Dent County, Missouri and graduated in 1983 from Salem High School. David started his working career with Briggs and Stratton, spent some time at Akers Ferry, and worked for many years as a sandblaster with Salem Monument Shop. His dedication to his job was evident in everything he did. His hard work and positive attitude made him a valuable asset to his community and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. David was a skilled archer and participated in several archery tournaments, earning many trophies. He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed deer, turkey, and coyote hunting. He always looked forward to spending time with his family at Watson Deer Camp. David also liked spending time near the water fishing. David could often be found riding his Honda Shadow and his four-wheeler, making memories with his family, or watching a St. Louis Cardinals game. He loved raising and running his beagles and spending time with his mule. David departed this life April 30, 2025, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of sixty years. He is survived by his loving siblings: Randy Watson and wife Lisa, Brenda Nivens and husband Tom, and Dannie Watson and wife Linda all of Salem, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his parents: Calvin and Dormilee (Midyett) Watson. David will be remembered for his warm and generous spirit. He had a unique ability to make others laugh, often teasing those he loved most with a twinkle in his eye. His genuine kindness and ever-present smile touched the lives of all who knew him. He was one of a kind, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed. Funeral Services for David Carl Watson were held Monday, May 5, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Song selections played were “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, “Lead Me Home”, and “Lord Build Me A Cabin”. Serving as Pallbearers were Ryan Watson, Brad Nivens, Mike Watson, Randy Watson, Dannie Watson, Aaron McCall, Jeremy Harrison, and Jason Midyett. Honorary Pallbearers were Melanie Harrison, Kristi McCall, Alicia Watson, Kelly Schafer, Steve Wofford, Wade Sisco, Raymond Quick, and Tom Nivens. Burial was in the Miner Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of David Watson and left with Wilson Mortuary.
