Dema May Martin

Dema May (Barton) Martin was born on February 20, 1922 in Iron County, Missouri to Alex and Elisie (Sumpter) Barton and passed away from this life on May 29, 2020, in Rolla, Missouri at the age of ninety-eight years. Dema grew up and attended school in Neals Creek, near the Bixby Store. On June 9, 1945 Dema married her sweetheart, Leonard E. Martin in Boss, MO. Leonard brought a daughter, Lois Marie, to this marriage and to this union three children were born: Carlis, Carmen, and Larry. Dema and Leonard shared twenty-eight years of marriage before his passing in 1973. Dema was a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her family and her home. She enjoyed spending time with her children and was proud of their accomplishments. Dema treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed gardening in her younger years, and liked doing word search puzzles. She leaves to mourn her passing two children: Carmen Mounce and husband Kenneth of Viburnum, MO, Larry Martin and wife Theresa of Champaign, IL; son-in-law: Harold Blunt of St. Louis, MO; two sisters: Mabel Headrick, Maxine Lowe and husband Paul; grandchildren: Linda Miklovic and husband Dan, Kevin Pinkley and wife Linda, Terri Johnson and husband Brian, Brent Mounce and wife Sandy, Kendra Wisdom and husband Jason, Michael Martin and wife, Katie; great-grandchildren: Aimee Miklovic, Beth Boedeker and husband Dave, Jeff Pinkley, Brooke Johnson, Evan Johnson and wife Abby, Kelci Faulkner and husband Andy, Kasie Mounce, Drew Wisdom, and Madison Martin; great-great-grandchildren: Rylee, Robert and Reagan Boedeker, Aubrey Rokiski, Karson and Karter Faulkner. Preceding her in death were parents; husband; two daughters: Lois Pinkley and Carlis Blunt; four brothers; and five sisters. Dema will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Graveside Services for Dema May (Barton) Martin were held Sunday, May 31, 2020 in the Boss Cemetery with Elder Bill Mathes and Terri Johnson officiating. Special Music was provided by Brent Mounce. Serving as Pallbearers were her loving family. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
