Dennis Joe Pewitt

Dennis Joe Pewitt was born on May 18, 1962, in Salem, Missouri, to Donald “Donnie” Joe and Judith Ann (Morton) Pewitt. He was blessed to be raised by Gary Lee Morton. Dennis grew up in Salem and graduated with the class of 1980 from Salem High School. At the age of seventeen, Dennis started his working career as a bagger with Town and Country Supermarket which is now Country Mart. He was a dedicated worker and valued employee who worked his way to becoming Produce Manager. Dennis always greeted customers with a friendly smile and kind words. He was such a blessing to the community he served. Dennis was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where he currently served as the Praise and Worship Leader. He loved to sing and was always singing and worshiping the Lord. Dennis served as Youth Pastor for several years at New Home, Crossville, and Pleasant Valley. He cared for the youth and made them a priority in his life. Dennis loved supporting them, especially through school sporting events. He was a great example of a Godly man. Dennis loved sports and enjoyed playing a good game of softball and basketball. A passionate biker, Dennis enjoyed everything about motorcycles, from the freedom of riding to the friendships he had with fellow motorcycle enthusiasts. He was a proud member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association. Dennis entered into eternal rest November 5, 2022 in Salem, Missouri at the age of sixty years. He is survived by his loving wife: Brenda Pewitt of Salem, MO; mother: Judith Morton of Salem, MO; sister: Kristi Morton Craig and husband Bryon of Salem, MO; brother: Benjamin Morton and wife Kristal of Salem, MO; niece and nephews: Brittany Aldridge and husband Mitchell, Cody Craig, Kyle Vickers, Gannon Craig, and Jackson Morton; great-nephews and niece: Kasen, Riley, and Presley; special aunt: Charleen Pewitt Turner; special cousin: Travis Turner and wife Sheena; sister-in-law: Teresa Crain; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and dear friends Preceding him in death were, his wife: Patti (Broyles) Pewitt; fathers: Donnie Joe Pewitt and Gary Lee Morton; and grandparents: Donald and Pauline Pewitt, Cody and Dormilee Morton, and Earl and Marie Morton. Dennis was one of a kind, always positive, cheerful, kindhearted, and caring. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Dennis will be greatly missed, but he lived life to the fullest, and those who knew him loved him for the positive impact he had on their lives. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Dennis Pewitt to the Christian Motorcyclist Association and left at Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
