Donnie Shane Cogar

Donnie Shane Cogar was born July 26, 1954, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was one of two sons born to Roy Lee and Sarah Ellen (Bowling) Cogar. He spent his childhood traveling across the states as part of his father’s military career, and in 1961, they made Waynesville, Missouri their home. Donnie graduated with the class of 1972 from Waynesville High School. On December 4, 1976, Donnie was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kathy Ann Henson. Donnie and Kathy were blessed with one daughter, Amanda. They have spent the last forty-seven years together raising a family and creating many lasting memories. Donnie was a hard worker and liked to stay busy. Throughout his working career he worked for Wieners Auto Body and in the construction field. In 2015, Donnie started working as the maintenance director for the Laquey School District. Donnie liked the outdoors, spending time on the family farm, and deer hunting. He loved to read and enjoyed cowboy action shooting. Most of all, he loved making memories with his family. He truly loved being a grandpa, and his grandson, Ethan, was his world. Donnie would go to every sports event and school activity to proudly support him. Donnie departed this life January 6, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife: Kathy Cogar of Waynesville, MO; daughter: Amanda Larson and husband Jason of Waynesville, MO; grandson: Ethan Larson of Waynesville, MO; brother: Dean Cogar and wife Kathy of Waynesville, MO; brother-in-law: Bill Henson and wife Beth of Mustang, OK; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his parents Roy and Sarah Cogar. Donnie will be remembered for his quiet and kind nature. He would do anything for anybody. The compassion he had for others leaves a lasting impact on those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all. Funeral Services for Donnie Shane Cogar were held Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Idumea Baptist Church, Laquey, Missouri, with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Serving as Pallbearers were Matt Perrine, Matt Martin, Tristan Hendrix, Rex Larson, Ronnie Bowling, Kenny Mann, Jason Larson, and Tommy Bowling. Burial was in the Idumea Church Cemetery.
