Edith Marie (Stump) Skiles

Edith Marie (Stump) Skiles was born June 28, 1926, in Dent County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Cyrus Field and Edith Minnie (Marrill) Stump. Edith entered eternal rest January 24, 2025, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of ninety-eight years. Edith was united in marriage to the love of her life, Clarence Leo Skiles, on July 15, 1944. To this union they were blessed with six children: Joyce, Gary, Dennis, Colette, Darrell, and Sherri. Edith and Clarence shared twenty-seven years of lasting memories before his passing on February 27, 1971. Edith was an excellent wife, mother, homemaker and cook. She worked in the kitchen at Seville Care Center for many years. Edith was compassionate, kindhearted, and generous to a fault. Her love for her family and the elderly was shown in everything she did. In her spare time, she loved to quilt and was a member of the Mt. Hermon Ladies Quilt Club. Edith was a true inspiration and lady of great faith. She loved to worship at Grace Community Church and had previously attended Mt. Hermon Methodist Church, Full Gospel Mission, and the Church of the Nazarene. Edith was gifted with a beautiful voice and loved singing at church for the Lord and often with her family at many singings. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her loving children: Joyce Davis of Paris, MO, Darrell Skiles and wife Marianne of Salem, MO, and Sherri Skiles of Salem, MO; daughter-in-law: Rita Skiles of Salem, MO; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her husband: Clarence Skiles; sons: Gary Skiles and wife Susan; Dennis Skiles and infant daughter, Colette Skiles; parents: Cyrus and Edith (Marrill) Stump; and her siblings. Edith was a strong willed, hardworking, loving and beautiful woman. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were her world. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who loved her most. She will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends. Memorial Services for Edith Marie (Stump) Skiles were held Saturday, February 8, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Mickey Davis officiating. Special Music played was “Amazing Grace” and “Holy Hills of Heaven”, congregation hymn sang was “I’ll Fly Away”. Burial was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Edith Skiles to Mt.
