Emilie (Todd) Gillam

Emilie (Todd) Gillam, the daughter of Monroe and Mae (Pippin) Todd, was born June 24, 1938, in Doniphan, Missouri. She passed away October 3, 2025, in Cuba, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years. As a young girl, she picked cotton to help her family. She then moved to St. Louis, Missouri to find work. It was while working at White Castle, she met the love of her life, Marvin Gillam, and on November 22, 1956, they were united in marriage. Emilie and Marvin were blessed with two sons, Dave and Don, and shared many lasting memories until her passing. Emilie had a very strong work ethic and throughout the years she worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Steelville, and as a cook at Stonecrest Healthcare in Viburnum. Her most prized role was as a homemaker not only to her family but to everyone who entered her home. She proudly embraced her role by creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Emilie was considered mom to many, and her nieces and nephews called her “Aunt Mimi” and “Aunt Em”. Her greatest joys in life were her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked to watch the hummingbirds, loved to cook, and enjoyed gardening. Spending time outdoors and taking her sons and later her grandchildren to the creek, were some of her favorite pastimes. Emilie is survived by her loving husband: Marvin Gillam of Cuba, MO, formerly of Davisville, MO; sons: Dave Gillam and wife Susan of Viburnum, MO and Don Gillam and companion Janet Ringering-Shewmake of Wood River, IL; grandchildren: Jessica Metcalf and husband Nic of Cuba, MO, Ashley McMillian and husband Larry of Rolla, MO, and Drew Gillam of St. Louis, MO; great-grandchildren: Harrison McMillian, Noah McMillian, Blake Metcalf, and Brooks McMillian; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents: Monroe and Mae (Pippin) Todd; and siblings: Tom Todd, Jean Proffer, and infant Barbara Ann. Emilie was a kind, good-natured, selfless, and nurturing woman who always put others’ needs before her own. Her legacy will continue to shine in the lives of those who loved her most. She will be deeply missed. Celebration of Life Service for Emilie (Todd) Gillam was held Saturday, October 18, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Viburnum Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating and Jessica Metcalf sharing the eulogy. Song selections played were “When I Get Where I’m Going” and “How Can I Help You Say Goodbye”. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Viburnum, Missouri.
