Hattie Ellen (Miner) Brooks

Hattie Ellen (Miner) Brooks was born April 23, 1938 in Buick, Missouri. She was born to Columbus Otto and Nellie Victoria (Camden) Miner. Hattie grew up in Buick, Missouri and attended the Buick School, which was a one room schoolhouse where many fond memories were made. Hattie was united in marriage November 10, 1956, to the love of her life, Paul Dean Brooks in Holly Springs, Mississippi. They shared together sixty-one years of love and laughter before his passing on November 30, 2017. Hattie and Paul were blessed with two children: Dale and Paula. Hattie was a dedicated homemaker and took great pride in raising her family and caring for her home. She happily babysat her grandchildren and others in need of care and treasured being able to do so. Hattie showered her love on those around her and cherished memories made with her loved ones. Her kids and grandkids were her life. Hattie's family always enjoyed her yummy pumpkin pie and delicious chicken and dumplings. She was a great communicator and would call daily to check on those she cared about. Hattie was a lady of strong faith and a great prayer warrior. She loved reading and studying her bible daily. Hattie entered into eternal rest February 12, 2023, in Viburnum, Missouri at the age of eighty-four years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, loving daughter: Paula Conley of Salem, MO; two grandchildren: Angela Shaw and husband Nathan of Salem, MO, and Douglas Paul Conley of Salem, MO; four great-grandchildren: Madison Shaw and boyfriend Nathan Quick, Hunter Shaw, Haiden Shaw, and Ava Shaw; two sisters: Imogene Decker and husband Jim of Salem, MO, Cora Norris of Salem, MO; sister-in-law: Erma Brooks of Salem, MO; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Preceding her in death, loving husband: Paul Brooks; son: Dale Brooks; parents: Columbus and Nellie Miner; son-in-law: Dwain Conley; brother: Troy Miner; and sisters: Maxine Nelson, Lillian Martin, Gladene Volner, and Verla Abney. Hattie leaves her family a legacy of love and devotion. She will be forever missed by those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Hattie Ellen (Miner) Brooks were held Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Lyndell Decker officiating. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace”, “The Anchor Holds”, and “Go Rest High on that Mountain”. Serving as Pallbearers were Paul Conley, Nathan Shaw, Hunter Shaw, Haiden Shaw, Bobby Shaw, and Darrel Decker. Honorary Pallbearer was Stanley Hayes. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
