Helen Louise (Wisdom) Jackson

Helen Louise (Wisdom) Jackson was born on November 6, 1935 to Raymond and Stella (Franklin) Wisdom in St. James, Missouri and passed away on August 8, 2020 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of eighty-four years. Helen grew up and attended school in Salem, Missouri. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jimmy Jackson, on November 7, 1953. Together Helen and Jimmy shared fifty-six wonderful years of marriage before his passing on May 11, 2010. They were blessed with three daughters: Sandy, Vicky, and Linda. Helen worked hard to provide for her family, she was a devoted wife to Jimmy and a dedicated mother to her three children. Helen was a homemaker, worked at Flemings Variety Store and retired from the Salem R-80 School District as the cafeteria manager. Her greatest joy was taking care of her “Jimmy” and providing for her children. Helen was a woman of faith and a long-time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She served in variety of areas and stood beside her husband as a Deacons wife. In her later years, Helen attended Grace Community Church with her sister, Wanda. She was a great Christian lady who was sweet and loving to everyone she met. Helen truly enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, she was known as “The Cook” at Salem Schools and the “Kitchen Lady” at Oak Grove. Helen was an excellent cook and best known for her chili and chocolate gravy. She was a wonderful baker and made several beautiful wedding cakes. Helen’s family never went hungry. Helen was selfless and always put everyone’s needs before her own, she loved family gatherings and family meant everything to her. She cherished the time spent with them; especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Helen is survived by her loving children: Sandy Foley and husband Paul of O’Fallon, MO and Vicky Gladden and husband Danny I of Steelville, MO; sister: Wanda Parks of Salem, MO; sisters-in-law: Belinda Swiney of Bunker, MO, Sue Morse and husband Jim of Florissant, MO, Gloria Wisdom of Salem, MO, and Delores Wisdom-Scheske of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Travis Foley and wife Jacqueline of O’Fallon, MO, Brandon Foley and wife Renee of Henderson, NV, Amy Ramori of Steelville, MO, Jimmy Hutson and wife Irene of Brunswick, GA, Danny Gladden II of Kansas City, MO, and Jeremy Brooks and wife Stephanie of Florissant, MO; as well as many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. Preceding her in death, husband: Jimmy Jackson; daughter: Linda Robertson; parents: Raymond and Stella Wisdom; brothers: Thurman and Junior Wisdom; sister: Wilma Turner; and several brother and sister-in-law’s. Helen will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services for Helen Louise (Wisdom) Jackson were held Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Gary Bartle officiating. Grandsons, Danny II and Travis, shared memories and Jacqueline Foley provided special music. Serving as Pallbearers were Danny Gladden I, Danny Gladden II, Paul Foley, Travis Foley, Butch Turner, and Todd Parks. Honorary Pallbearers were Brandon Foley, Jimmy Hutson, and Dennis Wisdom. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
