Helen Pauline (Edwards) Rasor

Helen Pauline (Edwards) Rasor was born December 9, 1929, in Dent County, Missouri, to Wilgus John and Claudine Thelma (Welch) Edwards. She grew up in Salem, Missouri and graduated with the class of 1947 from Salem High School. On December 31, 1948, Helen was united in marriage to the love of her life, Verdell “Bud” Rasor. They shared thirty-four years of marriage and memories together before his passing in 1982. Helen and Bud were blessed with one daughter, Sandra. Helen furthered her education at Southwest Missouri State for two years and then started teaching. She taught in one and two room schoolhouses to include Lower Parker, Jadwin, and Turtle, until her daughter was born. In the early seventies, Helen went to the Oak Hill School District as a teacher’s aide for several years. Helen was known as a social and loved to talk with others. She never met a stranger and always approached others stating “Hello, my name is Helen. What is your name?”. She enjoyed visiting with others, especially with the residents at nursing homes. In her later years, she provided services as a home healthcare aide. She was a good friend and listener. Helen was a lady of strong faith who loved deeply and prayed daily. As a young girl, she started attending Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and faithfully attended until her health no longer allowed. Helen entered into eternal rest June 8, 2024, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of ninety-four years. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her loving daughter: Sandy Howard of Salem, MO; brothers: Jim Edwards and wife Duetta of Olathe, KS, Larry Edwards of Salem, MO, and Ron Edwards and wife Bylinda of Bolivar, MO; sister-in-law: Jean Morton and husband James of Salem, MO; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her husband: Bud Rasor; parents: Wilgus and Claudine Edwards; son-in-law: Junior Howard; and sister-in-law: Linda Edwards. She was and always will be a precious gem in this world. Her legacy will live on in the lives she has touched along the way. Helen will be deeply missed. Graveside Services for Helen Pauline (Edwards) Rasor were held Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Green Forest Cemetery with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. Special Music was played by the Edwards Trio. Serving as Pallbearers were Jim Wood, Jeremiah Privett, David Groves, Jason Jones, Randall Vaughan, and Dustin Howard. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Helen Rasor to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and left at Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
