Imogene Helen (Jackson) Landers

Imogene Helen (Jackson) Landers was born on August 23, 1931, in Centerville, Missouri to Oather Oscar and Gertrude A. (Pulley) Jackson. She grew up in a very large and loving family, as one of nine children, she was never alone. At a young age, Imogene accepted Christ and enjoyed attending several churches throughout the years, especially at Centerville and Montauk. Imogene was united in marriage to Wilburn Guinn and to this union two children were born: Ron and Connie. She later married Cecil Landers, at a little chapel in St. Louis, Missouri, and to this union three children were born: Annabel, Emogene, and Oather. Imogene was a loving wife and dedicated mother to her children. Imogene truly had a servant’s heart and a passion for helping others. She worked as a caregiver in many capacities, often caring for foster children or elderly family members. For many years, Imogene was employed with DCAI, she was always observant and looking for ways to serve and make others happy. Imogene was a lady of many talents who loved sharing her gifts with others. She was an excellent seamstress and liked sewing costumes for Small Miracles. Her sewing talents brought her years of enjoyment, from sewing clothing to house shoes for her family over the years. Imogene created many beautiful quilts, giving them away to her family and selling them to others. Imogene was an avid Bingo player and liked playing cards. She enjoyed the basics of life; drinking coffee and listening to the radio. Spending time with her family was most important and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her true hobby. Imogene cherished every moment spent with them. Imogene departed this life on August 11, 2021 in Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-nine years. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, loving children: Connie Guinn and Whiskers of Licking, MO; Annabel Routh of South Carolina, Emogene Welch of Salem, MO, and Oather Landers of Salem, MO; son-in-law: Tom Welch of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Pamela Medlock, Eric Reddy, Ryan Reddy and wife Sara, Josh Routh, Brandon Welch and wife Diana, Jared Routh and wife Jennifer, Jacob Welch and wife Ally, Megan Delmain and husband Josh, Lucas Adams, Hannah Landers, and Grace Landers; many great-grandchildren; other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, her son: Ron Guinn; granddaughter: Jessica Routh; husbands: Cecil Landers and Wilburn Guinn; parents: Oather and Gertrude Jackson; and eight siblings. Imogene will be remembered as a strong but gentle woman with a heart of gold who impacted many lives and families in the community. Her passionate, one-of-a-kind personality will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services for Imogene Helen (Jackson) Landers were held Friday, August 13, 2021 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Charlie Younger officiating and Megan Delmain sharing memories. Song selections played were “Jealous of the Angels” and “Amazing Grace”. Serving as Pallbearers were Ryan Reddy, Jacob Welch, Brandon Welch, Lucas Adams, Josh Routh, and Josh Delmain. Honorary Pallbearers were Jared Routh and Eric Reddy. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
