Jefferson "Jeff" Edward Seay

Jefferson Edward Seay was born January 28, 1951, to William E Seay and Shirley (Anderson) Seay and passed away January 20, 2024. Jeff was a 1969 graduate of Salem High School where he played on the Salem High School football team. He graduated from Central Methodist College in 1973 with a degree in Sociology and a minor in English; he was a member of Chi Delta fraternity. Jeff owned and ran Ziske Sales and Service in Salem and later was the Assistant Administrator at SMDH. Jeff enjoyed trout fishing with his kids at Montauk and fishing for walleye with his grandfather Clarence Anderson in Canada and northern Wisconsin as well as goggle-eye fishing on the Gasconade and Piney Rivers. Jeff enjoyed quail, turkey and pheasant hunting with his dad and family members. In later years, one of his favorite hobbies became supporting nature conservation and bird watching; he kept a journal of his sightings for years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, and Missouri Tigers fan. He enjoyed reading, writing, making “to do” lists, and following politics. Jeff faithfully attended and watched his grandkids in all their extracurricular activities as long as he was able. In his later years he was the Unofficial Mayor of Salem Care Center where he was an advocate for staff and residents and cared for them like he did his own family. Jeff loved a good joke, a funny story, and sharing memories that went all the way back to elementary and middle school days. He never forgot a birthday or special occasion, devotedly sending cards and letters to friends and relatives across the years. Jeff treasured the conversations and friendships he shared with years-long friends. Jeff is survived by his mother: Shirley Seay of Salem, MO; children: AJ Seay (Megan) of Salem, MO, Kerrick Seay (Teisha) of Long Island, NY, Drusilla Howard (Dustin) of Salem, MO, and Lexi Keith (Jeremy) of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Kiara Rennick, Kolson Seay, Zoey Seay, Thomas Seay, Crosby Seay, Kash Howard, Josie Howard, Madi Keith, Jack Keith, and Ivan Keith; great-grandchildren: Harbor and Rysner Rennick; sister: Liz Condray of Salem, MO; brothers: William Camm Seay of Eminence, MO and Andy Seay of Salem, MO; aunt: Drusilla Rees of St. Louis, MO; special friend: Mary Jane Lippert of Kenosha, WI; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Preceding him in death were his father: William Earl Seay, grandparents: Clarence and Dorothy Anderson and Earl and May Drusilla Seay; and his brother-in-law: Mike Condray. Celebration of Life for Jefferson “Jeff” Edward Seay were held Saturday, February 3, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with AJ Seay officiating. Additional speakers were Liz Condray, Wm. Camm Seay, Drusilla Howard, and Kerrick Seay. Honorary Pallbearers were Jim Higginbottom, Dave Moller, Larry Lough, Tim Rice, Rick Brooks, Liz Condray, Andy Seay, and Wm. Camm Seay. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Jeff Seay to the Salem Public Library or the LovePack BackPack Program and left at Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
