Jessica LeAnn (Wood) Phipps

Jessica LeAnn (Wood) Phipps was born September 18, 1972, in Houston, Missouri. She was the daughter of Michael and Helen (Taylor) Wood. Jessica grew up in Salem and earned her high school diploma. She then furthered her education and received her Certified Nursing Assistant license. She later attended online with Penn Foster College where she obtained her Dental Hygienist certificate. Jessica was united in marriage to William Phipps, and to this union blessed with three children: Cory, Angel, and Heather. She was extremely proud of her children and their life accomplishments. Her family time was most important, especially spending time with her grandbabies and watching them grow. Throughout her working career, Jessica has worked at Six Flags, Cracker Barrell, Crabapple Village Senior Estates as a CNA, and in the individualized home healthcare field. She was a truly compassionate and caring nurse and caregiver at heart. Jessica had an adventurous spirit. She loved long car rides, weekend getaways to Branson, vacations with family and friends, as well as camping at Montauk State Park. She loved the water, whether she was at the ocean, river, or Clearwater Lake. Jessica enjoyed boating, rafting, floating, and fishing. Jessica loved football. Her hobbies include crafting, scrapbooking, baking and candy making. She was very gifted and talented in music. Jessica could play the piano and had a beautiful singing voice. She sang while in high school and often used her musical talent at church and the nursing home. Jessica lived a life of strong faith, her belief in the Lord guided every step she took. Her kind heart and giving spirit was evident in her everyday life. Jessica graduated and went to her Heavenly Home September 7, 2025, in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of fifty-two years. She leaves behind to treasure her memory her loving daughters: Angel Hunter and husband Andrew of Salem, MO and Heather Oostveen and husband Josh of Laquey, MO; parents: Michael and Helen Wood of Salem, MO; brother: Travis Wood of Ellington, MO; grandmother: Betty Wood of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Dominic, Alys, Logan, Braylon, and Cory; loving companion: William Phipps of Salem, MO; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her loving son: Cory Phipps; and her grandparents: Ervin and Wandul Taylor and Ralph Wood. Jessica was beautiful inside and out with a bright smile that was contagious. She was funny and had a unique gift of making others laugh with her great sense of humor. She had a unique ability to make friends easily, and her positivity was infectious. Jessica will be forever missed by those who knew and loved her. Celebration of Life for Jessica LeAnn (Wood) Phipps was held Friday, September 10, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Veronica Lato officiating. A eulogy was shared by her daughter Heather Oostveen. Song selections played were “If I Die Young”, “Broken Vessels, Amazing Grace”, and “Jealous of the Angels”. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
