Josephine "Joann" Lillian (Grant) Crain

Josephine “Jo Ann” Lillian (Grant) Crain was born January 21, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Pete and Wilma (Stewart) Grant. She grew up in Dent County, Missouri and attended Bunker High School. Jo Ann was united in marriage to the love of her life, Luther Wayne Crain, June 30, 1956 in Salem, Missouri and together shared thirty-six years of memories before his passing December 2, 1991. Jo Ann and Wayne were blessed with three daughters: Pam, Pat, and Kim. Jo Ann was a proud mother, loving and supportive military wife, and dedicated homemaker. She took great pride in caring for her and home enjoyed spending time in the kitchen. Jo Ann loved to cook and bake bread. Her family was most important to her and she treasured the memories they made together. Jo Ann was a wonderful grandmother and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jo Ann had a zest for life and was a world-wide traveler, she visited Ireland and Scotland and truly enjoyed traveling with her cousin Gail. Jo Ann loved getting out and seeing the back roads. She had a love for animals, especially for her beloved cat. Jo Ann’s favorite moments were watching court T.V. shows. Jo Ann was a lady of faith and attended Liberty Baptist Church when she was able. Jo Ann departed this life January 18, 2022 surrounded by her loving family in Overland, Missouri at the age of eighty-four years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters: Pam Gray and husband Gary of St. James, MO, Pat Crain of Overland, MO, and Kim Rother and husband Rick of Overland, MO; sisters-in-law: Mary Happel of Salem, MO, Leota Crain of Chesterfield, MO, and Margie Grant of Cuba, MO; grandchildren: Michael Gray and wife Charlynn, Rachel Gray, Jessica Stewart and husband Chad, Joshua Gray, Wayne Moss, Amanda Moss, Tony Moss, and Melinda Conners and husband Sean; great-grandchildren: Gregory, Gavin, Graycin, Addison, Lucas, Matthew, Nicholas, and Jonathan; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, husband: Luther Wayne Crain; parents: Pete and Wilma Grant; brother: Maurice Grant; and brothers-in-law: Raymond, Johnny, and Craig Crain. Jo Ann was a sweet and wonderful lady full of love and kindness. She will be forever missed but never forgotten. Funeral Services for Josephine “Jo Ann” Lillian (Grant) Crain was held Friday, January 21, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating and grandson Wayne Moss sharing the eulogy. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace”, I Want to Stroll Over Heaven with You”, and “Go Rest High On that Mountain”. Serving as Pallbearers were Michael Gray, Gregory Gray, Wayne Moss, Tony Moss, Matthew Conners, Nicholas Conners, and Jonathan Conners. Honorary Pallbearer was Joshua Gray. Burial was in the Stone Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
