Kelcy Lee (Bishop) Light

Kelcy Lee (Bishop) Light was born February 18, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was one of eight children born to Laymon and Belma (Johnson) Bishop. Kelcy was united in marriage to Norman Light on August 30, 1960. Kelcy and Norman were blessed with five children: Terry, Barry, Lynda, Christine, and Sharon. Kelcy was a dedicated homemaker. She took great pride in raising her family and caring for her home. Kelcy worked as a housekeeper for a time, but her focus was on her family. She proudly supported her children, cherished her grandchildren, and adored her great-grandchildren. Making memories with them is what she valued most. In her spare time, Kelcy liked to read romance novels and do word search puzzle books. She loved finding bargains at yard sales and enjoyed her flowers and plants. Kelcy is survived by her loving children: Terry Light and wife Pam of Potosi, MO; Barry Light of Potosi, MO; Lynda Bonebrake of Fulton, MO, and Christine Scheffel and husband Mike of Holts Summit, MO; brothers: D.L. Bishop and wife Barb of Linn, MO, Wayne Bishop and wife Diane of Linn, MO, and Len Bishop and wife Carol of O’Fallon, MO; half-sister: Lisa Sprous; grandchildren: Benjamin Light and wife Ashlea, Bryan Light, Mariah Light, Maegan Savage and husband Mike, Michael Light and wife Lisa, Jessica Barlow, Ashley Burrus, Vanessa Baumann and husband Shawn, and Valerie Gage; great-grandchildren: Eden, Amaeya, Summit, Peyton, William, Waylon, Carter, Demian, Camron, Jayden, and Isabella; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, daughter: Sharon; parents: Laymon and Belma Bishop; brothers: Melvin, Eugene, Jerry, Laymon Jr.; sister: Regina; and grandson: Barry Light Jr. Kelcy will be remembered for spirited personality. She could be feisty and stubborn, but always good hearted. She was very opinionated and strong in her belief. Kelcy will be forever missed by those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Kelcy Lee (Bishop) Light were held Sunday, July 23, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Michael Light officiating. Song selections played were “Holes in the Floor of Heaven” and “Crazy” with a congregation song “I’ll Fly Away”. Burial was in the Weese Cemetery, Shannon County, Missouri. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in of Kelcy Light to help with Final Expenses and left at Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
