Larry V. Lough

Larry V. Lough was born on October 5, 1951, in Rolla, Missouri. He was the son of Otto and Ruthene (Tipton) Lough. Larry grew up in Salem and graduated with the Class of 1969 from Salem High School. He married Kathy Abney, and together they were blessed with a daughter, Trisha. Larry dedicated many years of hard work to the mining industry, beginning with Amax, Asarco, and later retiring from Doe Run as a maintenance supervisor. Known as a true jack-of-all-trades, Larry could often be found building projects, welding, working outdoors, or improving his home. He took great pride in working with his hands and was always willing to lend those skills to help others. Larry loved spending time hunting deer on the family farm, Indian Trails, and in Colorado. He also enjoyed fishing in the Current River. More than anything, Larry treasured his family. He dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. Whether sharing stories, playful teasing, or simply being present, he created memories his family will hold close forever. Larry never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone. He was a member of the Salem Masonic Lodge #225, South Central Missouri Adou Ben Adhem Shriners, Sons of the American Legion, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3422. Larry was baptized in his faith and attended Salem First Christian Church when he was able. His positive attitude and generous heart were evident to those around him. Larry passed away May 16, 2026, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of seventy-four years. Those left behind to treasure his memory include his loving daughter: Trisha Mendenhall of Salem, MO; sister: Ruth Ann Williams of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Scott Mendenhall, Kyla Mendenhall, Brandon Mendenhall and wife Summer, Jacob Mendenhall, Patrick Mendenhall and wife Amy, and Shelby Bright; numerous great-grandchildren; extended family and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his parents: Otto and Ruthene (Tipton) Lough. Larry will be remembered for his funny sense of humor, and the good jokes he always had to share. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Funeral Services were Friday, May 22, 2026, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Bro. Aaron Steelman officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Mortuary in Salem, Missouri.
