Leota Faye (LaRue) Capps

Leota Faye (LaRue) Capps was born April 3, 1940, in Goodland, Missouri to Cecil Richard and Essie Mae (Wood) LaRue. She grew up in Goodland until the age of eleven when her family moved to the St. Louis, Missouri area. Leota met her sweetheart, William Earvin Capps, at the young age of fourteen. The two fell in love and were united in marriage on January 15, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri. Leota was a devoted wife to Bill for fifty-five years. She deeply cherished the memories they made and loved how well he took care of her until his passing in 2010. Leota and Bill were blessed with three children: Susan, Linda, and Timothy. Leota took great pride in raising her family and caring for her home. She was a dedicated homemaker, caring mother, and excellent cook. Leota was later blessed with ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her most treasured times were those spent with her family and enjoying the simple things in life. Leota loved what nature provided, often spending time outdoors tending to her flowers and watching her hummingbirds. In her spare time, she enjoyed being creative doing arts and crafts. Leota had great faith in the Lord and liked attending Lighthouse Baptist Church. Leota departed this life November 10, 2022, in Rolla, Missouri at the age of eighty-two years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children: Susan Ruhr and husband Henry; Linda Diane Hei and husband Michael, and Timothy Earvin Capps and wife Peggy; sister: Alberta Lamkemeyer and husband John; sister-in-law: Violet LaRue; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with two more on the way; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were, her husband: William “Bill” Capps; parents: Cecil and Essie LaRue; siblings: John Eldon LaRue and wife Bonnie, Montie Lee LaRue, Virginia Bailey and husband Delmar, and Daniel Sam LaRue; and grandson: Samuel Capps. Leota will be forever missed. Her memory will live on in those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Leota Faye (LaRue) Capps were held Thursday, November 17, 2022, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Keith Gillming officiating. Song selections played were “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace”. Serving as Pallbearers were her loving family and dear friends. Burial was in the Stone Hill Cemetery.
