Lisa Jayne (Powell) Volner

Lisa Jayne (Powell) Volner was born July 11, 1964 in Salem, Missouri to Ronnie and Sonja (Major) Powell. She was raised in Salem by her mother and stepfather, Jerry Nash. Lisa graduated with the class of 1983 from Salem High School. Lisa was blessed with one son: Michael and four grandchildren: Phoenix, Kinnison, Harlow, and Aubriella. She loved being called “Nana” and adored her grandbabies. Lisa’s world revolved around them. She treasured the memories made with them and loved to spoil them. Lisa was united in marriage to her sweetheart Bobby Volner on May 16, 2009. Lisa and Bobby enjoyed life together and shared thirteen years of memories. Throughout her working career, Lisa drove a bus for head start, was a travel photographer for Wal-Mart, and worked for in home care. Her proudest accomplishment was being a mother and grandmother. She took great pride in supporting her family. Lisa had an adventurous spirit and lived life to the fullest. She loved camping with her family at Council Buff and Clearwater Lake. Some of her fondest memories were of the many spontaneous trips on the backroads with her sister and friends. Lisa entered into rest January 13, 2023 in Columbia, Missouri at the age of fifty-eight years. She is survived by her loving husband: Bobby Volner of Salem, MO; son: Michael Canaday and wife Brandi of Salem, MO; mother: Sonja Nash of Salem, MO; brothers: James Powell and wife Karen of Salem, MO and David Powell and wife Annette of Salem, MO; sister: Tammy Klienhieder and husband Mark of New Haven, MO; half-sister: Amy Powell Long and husband Mike of Shady Gap, PA; grandchildren: Phoenix, Kinnison, Harlow, and Aubriella; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, father: Ronnie Powell; step-father: Jerry Nash; and sister: Jeri Powell. Lisa will be remembered for her sweet personality, her love of family, good times with good friends, and all the caring things she did that didn’t go unnoticed. She will be forever missed. Celebration of Life for Lisa Jayne (Powell) Volner was held Saturday, January 21, 2023 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Sons selections played were “Give Heaven Some Hell”, “In The Arms Of An Angel”, and “Dancing In The Sky”. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Lisa Volner to help with final expenses and left at Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
