Lloyd Alvin Lunn

Lloyd Alvin Lunn was born February 7, 1938, in Rhyse, Missouri, to Raymond and Virginia (Floyd) Lunn. He grew up in Licking, Missouri, and graduated in 1955 from Licking High School. After high school, he served honorably in the Army National Guard for fourteen years. Lloyd was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ina Arlene Shults, June 3, 1960, in Salem, Missouri. They built a beautiful life together sharing sixty-three years of lasting memories. Lloyd and Arlene were blessed with three sons: Gary, Mike, and Brad. Lloyd possessed a strong work ethic and enjoyed his career with United Telephone Company, now known as Brightspeed, as a cable splicer. When he wasn’t working or spending time with his family, you could find him trout fishing, quail hunting, or squirrel hunting. Lloyd enjoyed the simple things in life and loved to travel; often travelling to Texas for the winter. Family was most important to him. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He always encouraged them to do their best and was always there for them. Lloyd was a man of faith and baptized June 18, 1978, at the Second Baptist Church in Salem, Missouri. He was a dedicated member of Salem First Baptist Church and attended faithfully until his health no longer allowed. Lloyd entered eternal rest on November 27, 2023, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years. Those left behind to carry on his legacy include his loving wife: Arlene Lunn of Salem, MO; sons: Gary Lunn and wife Susan of Sullivan, MO, Mike Lunn and wife Sarah of Ozark, MO, and Brad Lunn and wife Stephanie of Pacific, MO; sisters: Donna Cooley and husband Gerald of Barnhardt, MO, Fern Radke of Arnold, MO, and Ailene Mundy and husband Jack of Licking, MO; brother: Kenny Lunn of Licking, MO; grandchildren: Tanner Lunn, Nathan Turman and Emeri, Sarah Vanklaveren and Andrew, Zachary Lunn and Katie, Chris Oldham and Toni, Brad Oldham and Stacy, and Matthew Oldham and Heather; great-grandchildren: Blake, Aaleyah, Hayden, Andrew, Kinley, Norman, Vann, Chaise, Spenser, and Maddex; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, parents: Raymond and Virginia Lunn, sister: Doris Lane; sister-in-law: Coyetta Lunn; brother-in-law: Charlie Radke; special cousins: Leo and Leon Lunn; and father and mother-in-law: Buford and Phoebe Shults. Lloyd was full of life. His laughter was contagious, and his smile could light up the room. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him most. Funeral Services for Lloyd Alvin Lunn were held Friday, December 1, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Mike Gorman and Pastor Frank Brooks officiating. A eulogy was shared by his granddaughter Sarah. Song selections played were “Safe in the Arms of Jesus”, “Amazing Grace”, and “How Great Thou Art”. Serving as Pallbearers were Tanner Lunn, Nathan Turman, Zachary Lunn, Andrew Vanklaveren, John Whelan, and Tom Whelan. Burial with Military Honors was in the Dry Fork Cemetery. Military Honors was provided by the American Legion Post 99 and Missouri Honors Team. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Lloyd Lunn to the Dementia Society of America or Alzheimer’s Association and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
