Melba Jane Jordan

Melba Jane Jordan, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on April 10, 2025, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of sixty. Born February 17, 1965, in Salem, to Jimmie Dale Jordan Sr. and Linda K. (Chitwood) Jordan, Melba lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering generosity. Melba was blessed with two children, Herbert Jr. and Audrey. Beyond her role as a mother, she was an amazing grandmother to Luke, Trinity, Haley, and Selena. She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her great-granddaughter Adeleine River. Her nurturing spirit extended to her neighborhood, as she was known as “the neighborhood mom,” always ready with a helping hand and a kind word. Melba possessed a diverse range of talents and interests. She held various jobs throughout her life, showcasing her adaptability and hard work. Her creative spirit shone through her crafting, and she delighted in collecting miniatures, unicorns, and lighthouses. Melba loving cruising down country roads with her CB handle, “Mustang Lady.” Melba leaves behind to cherish her memory her son: Herbert Bartlett Jr. of Salem, MO; daughter: Audrey Johns and husband Daniel of Salem, MO; siblings: Lisa Jordan of Salem, MO, Jimmie Jordan Jr. of Salem, MO, and Angel Richardson and husband Chris of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Luke, Trinity, and Haley; great-grandbaby Adeleine River on the way; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a wide circle of dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents: Jimmie Sr. and Linda (Chitwood) Jordan; granddaughter: Selena White; sister-in-law: Angie Jordan; and niece: Chantell Jordan. Melba was a woman of remarkable kindness, truly embodying the spirit of giving, always willing to “give the shirt off her back.” Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be profoundly missed. Celebration of Life for Melba Jane Jordan was held Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating.
