Ronnie Lee Steelman

Ronnie Lee Steelman was born January 25, 1943, in Salem, Missouri, to Clint and Alice (Nivens) Steelman and passed away August 8, 2024, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years. Kathryn Margaret Ann (Nelson) Steelman was born June 5, 1946, in Jadwin, Missouri to Bailey and Elsie (Jones) Nelson and passed away March 17, 2019, in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years. On July 10, 1965, Ronnie and Kathy were united in marriage in Salem, Missouri. They shared fifty-four years of lasting memories together and were blessed with two children, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Ronnie grew up in Salem, Missouri and attended Salem High School. In his early working years, he worked at several service stations until June 25, 1975. He then started working as a union laborer with the LIUNA and retired from the nuclear plant after many years of dedication. Ronnie enjoyed drag racing, running beagles, trout and bass fishing, and deer and turkey hunting. Kathryn grew up in Jadwin, Missouri. She worked as a waitress at the Walnut Bowl and Stephens Steakhouse for many years. She later worked at the County Mart Deli for several years before retiring. Kathryn enjoyed bowling in her younger years and had even bowled a perfect game. Above all, their family was most important to them. They were devoted to each other, dedicated parents, loving grandparents, and caring great-grandparents. They displayed values of faith and love, always showing through many important life lessons and good laughs in between. Ronnie and Kathryn are survived by their son: Roy Steelman of Salem, MO; daughter: Lori Plank and husband Steve of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Zach Plank and wife Sarah of Salem, MO, Tyler Steelman and wife Josie of Salem, MO, Shauna Steelman of Salem, MO, Shala Shepherd and husband Zach of Salem, MO; Angel Steelman of Salem, MO; and ten great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Ronnie is also survived by his sister: Fay Stoll of St. Louis, MO and cousin like a brother: Larry Steelman of Salem, MO. Kathryn is also survived by her sister: Fern Knueven of Salem, MO. Preceding Ronnie in death were his loving wife: Kathryn Steelman; parents: Clint and Alice Steelman; and siblings: Carl Steelman, Rita Quinn, Judy Meade, and Donna Dominique. Preceding Kathryn in death were her parents: Bailey and Elsie Nelson; brothers: William “Bill” Nelson, Marvin B. Nelson, and Kenneth Nelson; and sisters: Louise Norma O’Neil and Elma Margaret McDonald. Ronnie was a social butterfly who excitedly looked forward to seeing his family and friends. He enjoyed getting around town and keeping up with what was going on. Kathryn will be remembered for her quiet soul who kept mostly to herself. She enjoyed the social network provided by the internet. Ronnie and Kathryn brought so much love and laughter to their family. They will be forever missed by those who loved them most. The Memorial Gathering for Ronnie and Kathryn Steelman was held Wednesday, August 15, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. .
