Steven "Steve" Edward Norris

Steven “Steve” Edward Norris was born on October 18, 1954, in Salem, Missouri to Kenneth Edward and Doris (Hedrick) Norris. He graduated with the class of 1974 from Salem High School. Steve enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and served his country faithfully. He later continued to serve through the Army National Guard until his honorable discharge. Steve was united in marriage to the love of his life, Christina “Tina” Wingfield, on October 20, 1979 at New Home Baptist Church. Steve and Tina shared the last forty-two years of memories together. They were blessed with two sons: Scott and Cody and seven grandchildren: Taylor, Dawson, Jayden, Hayden, Liam, Reagan, and Emma. Steve was a devoted family man who worked hard to support his family. He was a loyal employee with the Charcoal Plant and had a strong work ethic. Steve retired after many dedicated years. Following retirement, Steve started volunteering in the community and delivering Meals on Wheels. Steve had a personality that was larger than life and a heart full of love and compassion for helping others. He never knew a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. Steve was very passionate about the sport of boxing. His passion started during his high school years where he earned the nickname “grasshopper”. Steve was a very competitive person; he loved to bowl, play horseshoes and washer toss. Steve was a man of great faith and longtime member of New Home Baptist Church. He was known to be a down to earth man and was always a pleasure to be around. Most important to him was his family and spending time making memories with his grandchildren. Steve entered into eternal rest on July 12, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Salem, Missouri at the age of sixty-seven years. Left behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Tina Norris of Salem, MO; sons: Scott Norris and wife Sherry of Salem, MO and Cody Norris and wife Kayla of Salem, MO; mother: Doris Hedrick Norris of Salem, MO; siblings: Kent Norris of Salem, MO, Brenda Terry and husband Randall of Springfield, MO, Beverly Berry and husband Terry of Salem, MO, and Rosemary Heman of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Taylor, Dawson, Jayden, Hayden, Liam, Reagan, and Emma; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, his father: Kenneth Norris; father and mother-in-law: Samuel Paul and Bessie Catherine Wingfield; sisters-in-law: Nancy Norris, Patricia Wingfield, and Vicky Wingfield. Steve leaves behind a great legacy of love, kindness, and service. His memory will live on in those who loved him most. He will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Steven Edward Norris were held Saturday, July 16, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Charlie Younger officiating. Song selections played were “That’s My Job”, “Song For Dad”, “I Can Only Imagine”, and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Special Music was provided by Charlie Younger singing “Old Rugged Cross” and a special eulogy was shared. Serving as Pallbearers were Scott Norris, Cody Norris, Hayden Norris, Steven Taylor, Dawson Norris, Taylor Norris, Dean Busbey, and Larry Wingfield. Military Honors was provided by the Missouri Honors Team and American Legion Post 99. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Steve Norris and left at Wilson Mortuary.
