Thomas Leon Mowery

Thomas Leon Mowery was born on October 31, 1958 to Thomas Lee and Reva Pearl (McCall) Mowery in Salem, Missouri and departed this life on June 19, 2021 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center at the age of sixty-two years. Leon grew up in Salem and graduated with the Class of 1976 from Salem High School. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rebecca “Becky” Asher on May 12, 1983 in Salem, Missouri and together shared thirty-eight years of memories. Leon and Becky were blessed with two children: Thomas and Michelle. Leon was a loving and devoted husband to Becky and dedicated and caring father to his children. Leon worked hard to provide for his family, in his early working years, He worked for Dent County Motors before becoming a full-time farmer. His greatest pleasure was time spent on the Turtle Farm raising cattle, deer and turkey hunting, and fishing in the pond. Leon truly enjoyed the farming life and loved spending his time outdoors on the farm, and with family and friends. Leon was a man of faith and attended New Harmony Church. Most important to him was his family, he deeply treasured the memories made with his grandchildren. Leon leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife Rebecca “Becky” Mowery of the home; son: Thomas Shawn Mowery of Salem, MO; daughter: Michelle Dixon and James Goodman of Salem, MO; sisters: Wanda Mathis and husband Keith of Springfield, MO and Brenda Robertson and husband Curt of Licking, MO; grandchildren: Christian and wife Shyan, Tommy, Mackynzie, Makaylah, and Scarlette; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death, parents: Thomas and Reva Mowery; and mother-in-law: Pearl Asher. Leon was one of a kind and loved by many, a true legend of a man, he will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for Thomas Leon Mowery were held Thursday, June 24, 2021 at New Harmony Church with Pastor Noah Schlag officiating. Song selections played were “On The Other Side”, “Jealous of the Angels”, and “Heaven’s Now My Home”. Serving as Pallbearers were Curt Robertson, Keith Mathis, David Sutton, James Goodman, Gary Nash, and Derrill Fisk. Burial was in the Boss Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Leon Mowery to Wilson Mortuary.
