Thomas "Tom" Joseph Schlipp

Thomas Joseph Schlipp was born on January 22, 1946, in Franklin County, Missouri to Lawrence and Margaret (Dorlac) Schlipp and passed away on September 21, 2020, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield at age of seventy-four years. Tom's early years were spent in St. Clair then the family moved to Illinois for a year. When Tom was about 10 years of age, his family made the move to Salem and that became the place he would call home. Tom was united in marriage to Wilda "Claudine" Robnett on November 26, 1971, at St. Jude's Church near Montauk and together they were blessed to share three children. Tom took great pride in caring for his family and worked at Amax Lead Mines for 17 years, then went on to Salem Treatment Center for over 25 years. Tom was a member of the Salem Jaycees. He was a born again Christian and attended Walking Faith Ministries. Tom was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed playing cards and was always ready for a game of pinochle. He was also known for his love of telling stories. Tom was a history buff and loved watching anything associated with wars, especially the Civil War, and also enjoyed Western movies. Tom's family was his greatest pride and joy. He treasured the time spent with them and the memories that were made. Tom is survived by his loving children: Teresa Anderson and husband Steve of Salem, MO, Jerry Hindman and wife Rena` of Mililani, HI; sister: Mary Frances Stegmann and husband Dean; brother: Jim Schlipp and wife Ann; three grandsons: Patrick Anderson, Joel Hindman, and Taylor Hindman; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death, his wife: Wilda Claudine (Robnett) Schlipp; parents: Lawrence and Margaret (Dorlac) Schlipp; and son: Gary Steven Hindman. Tom was a devoted family man who will be fondly remembered but deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for Thomas “Tom” Joseph Schlipp were held Saturday, September 26, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Lyndell Decker officiating. Song selections played were “How Great Thou Art” and “Because He Lives”. Serving as Pallbearers were Michael Robnett, Wes Stegmann, Dean Stegmann, Patrick Anderson, Jerry Hammons, and Steven Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers were John Young, Joel Hindman, and Taylor Hindman. Burial was in the Anutt Cemetery. The Family was served by Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
