Virgil Lee Pax

Virgil Lee Pax was born on July 4, 1944, in Springfield, Missouri, to Richard Lee and Virgie Jewel (Huskey) Pax, he was the eldest of ten children. His life was one of unwavering dedication to family and service to others. He served his country faithfully and honorably in the United States Army after being drafted during the Vietnam War. Virgil was a devoted husband to his first wife Faye. They shared many lasting memories before her passing. He later reunited with, and married his childhood sweetheart, Joyce "Christine" Carter, on December 7, 1985, and to this union shared a daughter, Brenda. Virgil and Christine created a beautiful family filled with love and laughter. They were blessed with thirty years of marriage before her passing in 2016. Virgil dedicated his life to caring and providing for his family. He was employed at the Canok for many years and later retired from the maintenance department at Seville Care Center. His dedication to his work mirrored his devotion to his family. Virgil found joy in simple pleasures, including camping, gardening, and, in his later years, watching "Little House on the Prairie." His favorite meal was two crispy chicken sandwiches, add bacon, from Burger King. Beyond his professional life, Virgil served as a pastor at Timber Church and later attended Solid Rock Church and House of Prayer until he became homebound. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and shaping his compassionate spirit. He was known for his kindness, gentle nature, and his unwavering support of others. Virgil entered into eternal rest on March 30, 2025, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty years. He is survived by his loving daughter: Brenda Meeks of Rolla, MO; siblings: Earl Pax and wife Betty, and Elizabeth Wallis and husband Stanley both of Salem, MO; brothers-in-law: Ron Mosley of Salem, MO and Ronald Carter of Pampa, TX; sisters-in-law: Linda Pax of Salem, MO and Cindy Pax of Lenox, MO; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his first wife: Faye; second wife: Christine Pax; parents: Richard and Virgie Pax; and siblings: Anna Click, Mary Barnes, Helen Light, Becky Mosley, Samuel Pax, James Pax, and Danny Pax. His legacy of love, laughter, service, and dedication will continue to brighten the lives of those who knew him. Virgil will be deeply missed. Funeral Services for Virgil Lee Pax were held Friday, April 4, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Rev. Stanley Wallis and Rev. Junior Light officiating. Special Music was provided by Liz and Stanley Wallis singing “I’ve Never Been This Homesick Before” and “I Feel Like Running My Last Mile Home” with additional song selection played “Lead Me Home”. Serving as Pallbearers were Roger Light, Matt Pax, Lonnie Mosley, Tim Mosley, Josh Pax, Jason Pax, Daniel Pax, and Everett Enloe. Military Honors was provided by the American Legion Post 99 and United States Army Honors Team. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
