Wayne Eugene Curley

Wayne Eugene Curley was born on July 9, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri to Delbert and Lorene (Fox) Curley and passed away on December 9, 2019, in Salem, Missouri at age of seventy-eight years. Wayne grew up on the family farm in Lenox, Missouri and attended school in a one room school house near Anutt. He entered the United States Army at the age of eighteen and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge after twelve years of service. During his time in the military, he was able to travel the world and for his faithful service, Wayne earned many decorations, medals, ribbons, and awards. He met and married, Gisela Colsch, on December 28, 1962 while on tour in Germany. Together they shared fifty-six years of marriage and were blessed with six children: Pete, Angela, Michael, Tina, Christine, and Gabi. Wayne worked hard to provide for his family; while in the Army he taught aviation mechanics and was an housing inspector on Fort Leonard Wood. He also worked for the City of Salem and the Conservation Department. Wayne had a passion for working with his hands and enjoyed carpentry work. He started building homes along side his dad and continued building until his retirement. Wayne proudly built several homes, including his own, and several businesses in the Dent County Community. In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed shooting skeet with his friends, hunting small game, and fishing. He was a member of the NRA and the local shooting club. Wayne recently accepted Christ and was baptized at Walking Faith Ministries. He was a faithful member and enjoyed Sunday worship services. Most of all, Wayne cherished time spent with his family; especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Gisela Curley of the home; five children: Pete Curley of Garland, TX, Angela Parker and husband Larry of Lenox, MO, Michael Curley and wife Carolyn of Salem, MO, Tina Lawrence and husband Tracey of St. Charles, MO, and Christine Cottrill and husband Lloyd of Salem, MO; five siblings: Allen Curley and wife Sandy of Salem, MO, Joyce Gray of Salem, MO, Janice Roper and husband Bob of Edgar Springs, MO, Michael Curley and wife Jequetta of Viburnum, MO, and Teresa Decker and husband Lyndell of Salem, MO; one sister-in-law: Mary Ann Curley of Salem, MO; fifteen grandchildren: Evan Curley, Ryan Curley, Matt Parker, Jason Parker, Danny Carpenter, Christopher Carpenter, Andrew Curley, Megan Roark, Ethan Curley, Leah Curley, Jessica Wilcox, Rachel Hinderliter, Samantha Pettus, Jared Shorey, and L.J. Cottrill; eighteen great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Delbert and Lorene Curley; daughter, Gabi Carpenter; grandson, Nicholas Harbison; brothers, Leroy Curley, Larry Curley, and Jack Curley; sisters, Gail Curley and Brenda Curley; brother-in-law, David Gray Sr.; and nephew, Daniel Decker. Wayne was a good, hardworking man that loved his family greatly. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. Funeral Service for Wayne Eugene Curley was held Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Lyndell Decker officiating. Song selections played were "Go On Without Me", "I Can Only Imagine", and "Go Rest High On That Mountain". Serving as Pallbearers were Andrew Curley, Ethan Curley, Matt Parker, Jason Parker, Jared Shorey, and L.J. Cottrill. Honorary Pallbearers were Chris Carpenter, Danny Carpenter, Evan Curley, and Ryan Curley. Burial with Full Military Honors was provided by the United States Army at Mount Hermon Cemetery. All arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
