William "Chuck" Charles Asher

William “Chuck” Charles Asher was born June 16, 1950, in Pekin, Illinois, to William Wright and Elsa Mae (Camden) Asher. He grew up in Anutt, Missouri and graduated in 1968 from Rolla High School. Chuck later furthered his education and obtained his master’s in electrical engineering. In 1971, Chuck entered the United States Air Force and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge. During his military career, Chuck traveled and was stationed in Turkey, Alaska, Utah, Colorado, and Arizona. For dedication he earned several decorations, medals, badges, and awards. Chuck was united in marriage to Nancy Coleman and to this union blessed with five children: Mark, Gentry, Carolyn, Amber, and Sarah. He later married Maggie Huddleston and to this union gained three children: Andrew, John, and Ann. Chuck and Maggie shared twenty years of marriage together before her passing March 7, 2021. In his working years, Chuck worked at Phelps Health Hospital specializing in Varion Nuclear Machines. He later worked for Doe Run and after retirement started substitute teaching, teaching college classes, and working at the treatment center. Chuck loved riding motorcycles, shooting guns, sharpening knives, and rock crawling with trucks. He liked taking care of the farm, finding joy on his tractor, and tending to his cattle and horses. Chuck liked to read and enjoyed a good fantasy and science fiction novel. He was a man of faith, loved studying scripture, and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Chuck entered eternal rest February 21, 2024, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years. He is survived by his loving children: Mark Asher and wife Angelique of Columbia, MO, Gentry Asher and wife Jody of Fort Mill, SC, Carolyn Weigand and husband Jim of California, Amber Asher and Corey of Springfield, MO, and Sarah Land and husband David of Greenfield, MO; stepchildren: Andrew Deering and wife Laura of Kansas City, MO, John Deering and wife Abby of New York, and Ann Deering of Salem, MO; siblings: Rhiannan Asher of Kansas, Marianne Chapman of Holts Summit, MO, David Asher and wife Diane of Houston, MO, Genny Asher of Holts Summit, MO, and Cindy Asher of Lebanon, MO; sister-in-law Diana Asher of Carson City, NV; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, wife: Maggie Asher; parents: William and Elsa Asher; and brother: Steven Asher. Chuck leaves behind a legacy that will be seen in his family for generations to come. The memories he shared with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren will be treasured forever. Chuck will be greatly missed by those who loved him most. Funeral Services for William “Chuck” Charles Asher were held Saturday, March 2, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Josh Housewright officiating. Mark Asher shared the eulogy and additional speakers were Thad, Gentry, and Michael. Congregational Hymns were “Nearer, My God, To Thee” and “How Great Thou Art”. Serving as Pallbearers were Mark Asher, Gentry Asher, Annie Deering, David Land, Corey Smith, Austin Asher, Michael Asher, Joseph Land, Christian Land, and Baden Asher. Honorary Pallbearers were Jim Weigard, Q Asher, and Keegan Baker. Military Honors was provided by the American Legion Post 99, Missouri Air Force Honors Team, and the Patriot Guard.
