Established in 1989, Wilson Mortuary was built from the ground up by the Wilson Family. Wilson Mortuary is one of the largest mortuaries in central Missouri. Wilson Mortuary takes pride in offering a family owned mortuary with an experienced staff, having over 100 years in the funeral profession. Being a family owned business, Wilson Mortuary is aware of the personal and individual needs of the families we serve.
In December 2007, the Wilson family saw the need for a funeral establishment in Viburnum, Missouri. The First Assembly of God Church was purchased and after a thorough remodeling update; the new Wilson Mortuary - Viburnum facility was opened. This facility serves Iron County as well as parts of Dent, Crawford, Reynolds and Washington counties.
Wilson Mortuary provides exceptional, friendly service and offers families a wide variety of caskets and funeral products at an affordable price. Wilson Mortuary provides spacious chapels and comfortable surroundings, all handicap accessible with the absence of steps. A comfortable mortuary is and important aspect of quality funeral service.

In August 2018, the Wilson family decided it was time to step into a new season of their life and Wilson Mortuary was purchased by Chris and Jessica Hendrix.

Christopher S. Hendrix Sr.License Funeral Director / Owner
Dedicated to serving each family with dignity and respect. Chris received his Funeral Director License in 2010; while working at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville, Missouri. Chris married his High School sweetheart Jessica and they have three children: Dakotya, Scott and Lizabeth. Chris is involved in the Salem Chamber of Commerce and the Salem Rotary Club.
Chandra SuttonOffice Assistant
Chandra was born and raised in Dent County and graduated from Salem High School in 1987. She is a member of Corinth Baptist Church. Chandra is married to Rich Sutton and has two children: Jordan and Lindsay. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her family.
Wilson FamilyBeverly, Eddie and Sherry - Founders
In 1989, Glen, Beverly and Eddie built Wilson Mortuary in Salem, Missouri from the ground up and operated as a family owned funeral home. Sherry joined them in the year of 2000. In December of 2007 they opened a funeral home in Viburnum, Missouri. They later added the Wilson Family Center to the Salem location to offer a gathering and reception center.
The Wilson's have served the community for over 29 years, they took pride in offering a family owned mortuary. Glen Wilson passed away in January of 2015.
In August of 2018, the Wilsons sold the funeral home to Chris and Jessica Hendrix and are looking forward to retirement. They have been honored to serve so many families but know that the Hendrix family will carry on the tradition.
